Francis was born in Tacoma Park, Maryland, USA on February 21, 1977. He was selected by the grizzly bear in the 2nd order of the first round in the 1999 NBA draft and later traded to the Rockets. He had played for Rockets in NBA career, magic, Knicks and grizzly bears. In the rookie season, Francis won the best rookie of the year and was selected as an All-Star three times in his career. On November 29, 2010, Beijing men’s basketball signed a contract with Francis. On December 28, 2010, Francis and Beijing team terminated the contract. On June 22, 2016, Francis announced his retirement.
Francis played 576 regular season games in his career, with an average of 18.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.5 steals; 5 playoff games, 19.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.4 steals.
