Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, February 16, 2023-representatives of the East Asian Super League (EASL, hereinafter referred to as Dongchao) met with representatives of China Basketball Association (hereinafter referred to as China Basketball Association) on February 14, he also expressed his willingness to invite CBA teams to participate in the 2023-2024 East Chao competition.
“The East Asian Super League and CBA have always had a deep fate. From beginning to end, we hope that the CBA team can bring you wonderful performances on the East Super stage, but because of the epidemic, it was not until this year that the two sides began to formally discuss this matter.” Matt Beyer, CEO of the East Asian Super League, said, “CBA is a very mature professional league and the best league in China. If there is no CBA participation in the development of Dongchao, that must be imperfect.”
As Asia’s leading pan-regional professional basketball league, Dongchao’s vision and mission are to rank among the top 3 in the world of similar competitions in terms of fan size and business income, and to help improve the level of Asian basketball, if CBA teams and players can join the Dongchao family and compete with top teams from Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, it will surely create a win-win situation for Asian basketball.
The representative of Dongchao met with the representative of Chinese Basketball Association on Valentine’s Day and had a harmonious discussion. Such a special day also symbolizes a beautiful and sweet beginning for the communication and cooperation between the two sides. Dongchao’s invitation received a positive response from the Chinese Basketball Association. Both sides believe that it is a good thing for all parties to win-win to let CBA players and teams participate in the exchange of events in East Asia.
Due to the impact of the epidemic, Dongchao had to adjust the main and away competition system of the 2022-2023 season to the competition system. The competition will be held in Utsunomiya city and Okinawa city in Japan from March 1 to 5, in addition to the pterosaur in Dongchao seed Bay Area from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, the 8 club teams participating in the competition are the defending champions and runner-up of the top basketball leagues in East Asian countries and regions. It is reported that Dongchao has signed a multi-year exclusive agreement with the International Basketball Association (FIBA), and the participating teams will be expanded to 16 in the 2020-2025 season.
About the East Asian Super League
The establishment mission of the East Asian Super League (EASL) is to create the top basketball league in East Asia and improve the sports level in the region at the same time. After signing a 10-year agreement with FIBA, Dongchao is the first professional club basketball league in the region. Dongchao’s vision is to become one of the world’s three major professional basketball leagues in 2025.
Dongchao signed a 10-year cooperation agreement with the world basketball regulatory agency, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the Asian Basketball Federation (FIBAAsia). The champion runner-up of Japan B League, South Korea KBL and Philippines PBA in the last season will be directly qualified to participate in the East Super competition, while the newly formed Bay Area pterosaurus and P from Taipei, China. LEAGUE +’s champion team will play on behalf of Greater China.
